I think I'm done with Xanga

Maybe next summer I will have some time, but I definitely don't right now. I still read my Xanga e-mails, but that's about it. If you want to talk to me, e-mail me. Or write me a note on here and I will e-mail you.

Thanks!

Amy :)

Time's a changin'

Well howdy!

It amazes me how much things can change all at once. This week, my sister-in-law Melody is going back home to go to college. Boo-hoo. I really loved having her here. Who wouldn't? She is a bundle of happy wonderfulness.

Also, on the very same day, I am leaving my job. Next week I need to report to school for teacher in-service week. Am I ready? Not at all. Actually, I keep meaning to work on school prep, but there is always something going on.

In the meanwhile, Oregon summer is beautiful, but I have this nagging feeling--it is just going to end soon and then the rain will begin. But this year, I am going to do something about it. I am going to buy one of those fancy lights which help make people happier when they get the rainy day (or in my case, rainy 6-month) blues.

I sent this to everyone on my e-mail list. If you would like to be added, give me your e-mail address.

Hello friends!

God is good, all the time!

This has been a lovely summer. Harold and Melody and I have had the chance to enjoy some truly beautiful days. And the Lord has really provided for us. Melody (Harold's sister) had difficulty finding work for the first month she was here, but now she is helping out two different families at our church, (babysitting and harvesting crops) and she is keeping quite busy. We have all been working in our vegetable garden in our spare time. We should have some lovely tomatoes, squash, corn, lettuce and cucumbers.

We have also been able to see a lot of family this summer. Harold and I were able to take a vacation with my mom and some relatives on her side of the family. We've also seen both of my sisters. My older sister Sharon and her husband moved to Washington last month and my younger sister is going to a flight attendant school an hour away. In a few weeks, Harold's dad will be coming to stay with us for a week.

In some exciting news, I will be teaching full time next year! This is almost as much a surprise to me as it might be to you. I was scheduled to do my student teaching this fall, and was contentedly looking forward to the experience, when suddenly God showed Harold and me that he had some different plans for us. I was in Portland one day for a standardized test when I ran into another student from my school. I didn't really know him, but I recognized him from one of my classes, so we started talking. He mentioned that he was teaching at a Christian school--Salem Academy--close to my house. When he found out that I am working towards teaching math and science, he said that the school was looking for a middle and high school math and science teacher. It sounded like a great job, but I didn't want to get my hopes up--I was already set that I would be student teaching in the fall. The following Monday I began a two-week intensive class--the teacher is the principal of Salem Academy! I didn't mention to him that I might apply for a teaching position at his school, but before I even had a chance to turn in my application, he heard I might be interested and approached me for an interview. Talk about amazing! I have now accepted the position and will be teaching Geometry, Middle School Math, Personal Finance, and Physical Science this year.

We would love to hear from you! Feel free to call, write or e-mail us. If you would like to be removed from this mailing list, please let me know.

Love,
Harold and Amy (and Melody)

P.S. I have attached some pictures--one of Harold and me in front of Lake Louise (in Canada) and the other of Melody in a field of irises near our house. Enjoy!

I miss school. I am such a dork.

I am finished with school for 6 weeks!

YAY! Let the party begin.

In other news, Melodiddy is coming in one week! AND Harold and I will have been married for one whole year in two weeks! It doesn't feel like a year. Though it feels like about a million years since I have been in school.
